CubeSat MBSE Paper Presented at IEEE Aerospace Conference

Members of MXL have been working with modeling and systems engineers from Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL), Systems Tool Kit (STK), the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), and others to apply Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts to model a CubeSat.  We presented our initial work at the IEEE Aerospace Conference in Big Sky, Montana this week.  This work will enable modeling the interior satellite system (i.e. internal energy/ data/ temperatures) during realistic operations  (such as data collection and download) while interacting with its environment (including gravity and magnetic fields, the sun and the atmosphere).  Long-term, this modeling capability will enable vehicle design analysis and optimization, and operational planning.  Future work will be presented at upcoming conferences and journals.
